RGWN members’ achievements recognised at the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood awards
The achievements of many RGWN members were recognised in the RHS Britain in Bloom awards ceremony held in Woodley last week. Volunteers from eight member organisations attended the ceremony to collect their awards and hear about the achievements of other gardens in the Thames and Chiltern area.
Most of the Reading community gardens were judged as Outstanding or Thriving, reflecting achievements in Community Participation, Environmental Responsibility and Gardening. The work of Green Health Thames Valley in promoting mental wellbeing was recognised by a specific award in this category, while the Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC) roof top garden won the “Wow” award, and Erleigh Road Community Garden won the It’s Your Neighbourhood National Certificate of Distinction - for being a consistently ‘outstanding’ garden as they have been awarded the top level for several years in a row. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this outstanding result which recognises all the work RGWN member organisations put in week in and week out to tend their wonderful gardens.
