  • the moon at night with bats flying across the edge of the moon

    Moon walks at Reading University Campus, 2nd April and 1st May

    Join Funsa for a guided walk around Reading University Campus at night to look for bats. Walks will be held on Thursday 2nd April and Friday 1st May.

    The walks are free, with donations to the local bat group, Berks & South Bucks Bat Group, welcome. The walks are also supported by the University of Reading and Earley Environmental Group.

    Honey bee talk at Five A Day Garden, Saturday 16th May, 2-3.30 pm

    Come to the Five A Day Garden to hear all about honey bees on Saturday 16th May 2-3.30 pm. Volunteer, Liz, will be explaining their life cycle, habitat and how bees contribute to the ecoclimate.

    The session is suitable for children over 8 years of age and adults.

    There are 25 places available at a cost of £5 for children up to 14 years, and £10 for adults. Pay by cash (preferred) or card on the day.

    Plant sale and garden open afternoon at Ridgeline on Sunday 17th May, 2 to 4.30 pm

    Visit The Ridgeline Trust Therapeutic Garden for their plant sale and garden open afternoon on Sunday 17th May, 2 to 4.30 pm. Buy some plants for your garden and enjoy refreshments and delicious cakes in their beautiful garden. There will also be children’s activities.

    Free disability parking will be available at the garden and other parking is available at Hamilton School on Hamilton Road. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

    Garden Open Day, Tuesday 19th May and Sunday 5th July, 2 to 4 pm, at Thrive Garden

    Visit Thrive Reading’s Garden in Beech Hill for their Open Day on, Tuesday 19th May or Sunday 5th July, 2 to 4 pm. This is an opportunity to explore the gardens, meet the team, and learn more about the inspiring work Thrive does throughout the year. There will also be a selection of plants for sale, along with tea, coffee, and delicious homemade cakes.

    All proceeds from open day events support their vital work.

    Entry is by donation.

    Join Erleigh Road Community Garden for their open day and plant sale on Saturday 30th May, 2-4 pm.

    Enjoy a cream team in the secluded garden, buy some plants and support the community garden.

    Entry is free. Donations and sales all help to support the running of the community garden

    Summer Holiday Garden Explorers for 11-17 year-olds with SEND, 27/28th July, 10/11th August, and 24/25th August, 10.30 am to 2.30 pm at Thrive Reading

    ‍Thrive’s Garden Explorers half-term holiday club for children and young people aged 11-17 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities invites participants to come and join in with: fun gardening activities; growing flowers, fruit and vegetables; nature walks; bug hunts; garden games and crafts, and to spend time in their beautiful garden.

    Life Changers Therapeutic Gardening with Thrive Reading - register your interest

    Register your interest to attend a free, 4-month, therapeutic gardening session for people living with a life changing illness, injury or health condition or who have experienced a life-changing event. Sessions are run at Thrive Reading and aim to support health and wellbeing, enable you to experience the joy of gardening and nature, be active, build confidence and independence, learn new gardening skills and meet people who understand your situation.
