Getting inspiration for a new gardening year

Whether you’re setting up a new community garden or thinking about how to develop an existing garden, getting ideas from other gardens, gardeners and gardening organisations can be helpful. RGWN has identified a number of resources that could inspire trustees, gardeners and volunteers when planning for the year ahead. A new section in our website – Community Garden Resources – provides links and a brief summary of some relevant resources from the Royal Horticultural Society, the Eden Project, Kew Royal Botanic Gardens and Sustain.

For example:

  1. Growing for Change, includes a self-assessment tool to be used to track and reflect on progress and to identify themes to work towards over the coming year.

  2. London Grows Wild, suggests how to assess how wildlife-friendly your garden is and how to improve biodiversity

  3. Start a Community Garden, from the Eden project, provides an inspiring guide to the first steps of setting up a community garden, stressing that it can start from very small beginnings and very little funding.

For links to these and other resources, see here. We will be adding to this section as we identify new resources.
