RGWN launches its updated website
September sees the launch of Reading Green Wellbeing Network’s updated website, the first major revision to the website since its first launch in 2022. Over this period, the network has grown in its scope and capacity to support and promote the activities of its member organisations and this is reflected the website which:
Explains the key aims and objectives of the network, together with how it supports its members
Describes the activities provided by its member organisations and available sessions and events
Highlights current developments and achievements in the field, and
Provides comprehensive resources on research into the benefits of nature connection, guidance on implementation, and a list of useful websites.
RGWN's mission is to enable everyone in the Greater Reading Area to have access to nature-connection activities and to experience the recognised benefits to mental and physical health. Bringing together the organisations that provide such activities, along with health and social care organisations, is key to achieving this and is a major goal of RGWN. We want Reading to be recognised as a leader in nature-based health initiatives.
RGWN’s member organisations are important providers of nature-connection sessions in the Greater Reading Area and cover a wide spectrum of activities. The website includes an interactive table of sessions that can be filtered by day, time, activity type, accessibility features, and participant groups, helping identify the session best suited to the individual participant’s needs. New programmes and special events are highlighted, making it easy to check for upcoming events and courses.
Keeping abreast of research into the health benefits of nature connection and new tools, guidance and initiatives in this field is important for social prescribers and practitioners, as well as those seeking funding. The website’s news articles highlight key developments as they emerge, as well as reporting on the achievements of member organisations and other initiatives at a local and national level. The resources pages provide quick access to useful websites and key research as it is published.
Through its updated website and ongoing initiatives RGWN seeks to involve individuals, organisations and businesses to create healthier, more connected communities across the Greater Reading Area
